Three things only Christians understand

*My body isn’t my own*

Contrary to popular belief or opinion I have come to realize that the life I have is the life of Christ. My ideologies, my beliefs, my everything belongs to God, I am not my own so I don’t get to treat my body or my life anyhow. As I listened to a sermon recently the preacher said ” The new man is not known after the order of who he was before Christ but after the order of who he is in Christ”. I live my life according to God’s word not what the world wants for me or what I want for myself that’s not to say that I don’t want to have my way sometimes infact there are days where I do see for myself and realize that God wants the best for me. He has given me the Holy spirit to help and strengthen me.

What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

*Guarding my heart*

Proverbs 4:23 tells us to guard our heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life. Our hearts is one of the most important things. What enters the heart is very important. Your heart is the gateway to the mind. The conception of sin starts in the heart and mind. For me personally, I take guarding my heart very seriously. Have you ever watched a movie and the scenes replay in your head or have you ever listened to a song from somewhere, you may not even like the song but you catch yourself singing it subconsciously. That’s the power of the mind.

For someone like me, I’m very careful with what I see. The bible says flee from all appearance of evil. I remember last year when I got a Netflix subscription. I decided to watch movies not more than 13+. Just because I was guarding my heart. Don’t form over spiritual in the face of sin and evil the Bible when the Bible said you should flee. Don’t say you can handle it when the Bible commands us to flee. God clearly knew what he was talking about when He said flee.

*Dating*

Christians are led by the Holy Spirit, “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God” Rom 8:14.

According to Wikipedia, *Dating is a stage of romantic relationships practised in Western societies whereby two people meet socially with the aim of each assessing the other’s suitability as a prospective partner in a future intimate relationship* This is the definition of what the world practice, two people come together, get intimate to check their marriage compatibility. In fact, some don’t even have the intentions of getting married, they just want someone they can explore their emotional adventure with.

Going further, in Christiandom, marriage is a critical aspect of our lives which we can’t leave to our emotions to make decisions for us. The details of our lives has been authored by God and we need to trust him for all the details to play out, even maritally.

Now, the question that some people will ask is, how do I know the person I want to get married with if I don’t date him/her? You can’t know the totality of a man fully, dating can’t can’t make you know a man (male and female) and that’s why you need to trust your maker who knows all men (women) because he created them himself, allow him to choose for you. As you are, you don’t know what you will like in the next 5 years, what you like now will definitely change in a matter of time. So let God who knows the future help in making the decision for you and you won’t regret it.

Another issue to address as far as this topic is concerned is how young folks burn with lust, *”I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, that ye stir not up, nor awake my love, until he please.” Song of Solomon 8:4.* Don’t awaken love when you aren’t ready for it! You can’t eat your cake an have it at the same time, we don’t engage intimate relationship with the opposite sex until we are ready for marriage. And once we are ready with the help of the Holy Spirit with the intentions of marriage, that’s when we start the courtship.

We are not frivolous people, we are people with intentional acts, we live by the leading of the Holy Spirit.
